Hey all - B here, one of the co-founders of Simple Beauty to get your skincare regimen on track.
So you got all this skincare but you don't know where to start? Well that's what I'm here for.
A LOT of people buy loads of skincare products but have no idea where to even begin or how to use them properly. Here's where I come in - a step by step on what to use, when to use it & how often.
Here is my easy, step by step break down;
Step 1 - Cleanse
Cleansing is important as it gets rid of all the excess dirt, impurities you've encountered throughout the day & of course if you wear make up.
From personal experience, double cleansing is the way to go. What is double cleansing you ask? It's when you first use an oil based cleansing oil - such as the Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Cleansing Oil - to do the heavy lifting. Whether you wear makeup, sunscreen and/or to remove excess sebum plus pollution. Next follow up with the water based cleanser - I highly recommend the ETUDE Soonjung pH 6.5 Whip Cleanser - to get the rest of the grime, dirt & sweat.
Double cleansing has changed my skincare game & gives my skin a more thorough cleanse, leaving it feeling fresh & clean!
Step 2 - Toner
Now toner has some mixed reviews - some people don't like it, some people love it. I personally love it! I have dry, sensitive skin so toner gives me that extra dose of hydration my skin is looking for as well as balances pH, minimizes the look of pores & infuses the skin with nutrients. The mixsoon Centella Asiatica Toner - 10/10! It only has 4 ingredients so it's great for my skin & no irritation. Since using it consistently, I swear my pores have shrunk!
Step 3 - Masks & Exfoliants
Is there a satisfaction that matches exfoliating your skin & taking off that "layer" of skin that is dull or peeling off a mask to super refreshed skin? Don't think so. I love the feeling of essentially taking off "old, dull skin" & seeing a fresh new layer. The SKINFOOD Strawberry Sugar Mask does the trick & it smells yummy too - definitely makes exfoliating that much more enjoyable. Now if you're looking for a sheet mask - I highly recommend the Torriden Cellmazing Firming Gel Mask to help fight anti-aging & looking like you took a dive into the Fountain of Youth.
Masks & exfoliants should only be done 1-3 times a week, depending on your skin & how it reacts. I'll exfoliate twice a week & use a mask 3 times a week for that extra boost my skin is looking for. You can alternate days that you do them & I don't recommend exfoliating two days in a row - your skin needs a break in-between.
Step 4 - Essence
An essence is pretty critical in your regimen as it works to support the benefits of the rest of your skincare routine. The active ingredients in an essence penetrate even deeper into your skin to better enhance your other products making it more effective. My favourite right now? The COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence. Amazing base before my serum & helps keep my skin looking supple & hydrated all day!
Step 5 - Serum
Depending on your skin concerns, serums are to target specific concerns. Personally, I'm all about looking like I'm 23 forever so I'm on the Beauty of Joseon Revive Serum: Ginseng + Snail Mucin. It has anti-aging properties, improves hydration that my dry skin is looking for, reduces inflammation & wrinkles - everything that I am looking for.
Of course whichever concern you want to target, Simple Beauty has a wide range on what you're looking for on our serums collection.
Step 6 - Moisturizer
One of the most important steps - moisturize to protect your skin. Moisturizing everyday can reduce the chance of developing extreme dryness or oiliness preventing common skin conditions like acne. I started incorporating the mixsoon Bifida Cream & it is a perfect texture for my dry skin. It locks in the moisture all day & protects my skin from the elements - it even keeps my eczema under control, bonus!
Step 7 - Eye Cream
Now eye cream - it's never too late to start on eye cream, we all know eyes can show our age so why not nip it in the bud? I’m quite the fanatic to NOT have wrinkles or any signs of aging so I splurge on the re:NK Cell to Cell Eye Cream. It reduces the appearance of dark circles, puffiness, fine lines & wrinkles because who wants those?!
Step 8 - Sun Cream/Sunscreen
Majority of you LOVE the sun, like me so protecting your skin is insanely important. Not only for the obvious reasons of lower the risk for skin cancer or from certain skin conditions flaring - it also protects against premature skin aging, reduces the risk of hyperpigmentation & melasma. The Torriden DIVE IN Mild Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA+++ is perfect for everyday use & leaves a lovely matte finish.
& there you have it! Skincare routine & steps broken down for an easy follow & why each one is essentially to get that glowing, clear skin you're looking for.
Remember, beautiful skin requires consistent commitment.
Until next time,
B
